AI PLN 2025 launches with an AI Unconference January 27, 4-5 PM

WHAT: A speed-dating feel of an AI Unconference for the best of an hour after school January 27, 2025 - and you're invited!

WHY: Our AI survey surfaced too many interesting AI-related topics for our 4 meetups leading up to the AI Summit in April, so we're turning our first AI PLN meetup over to you, so we can best provide an authentic conversation space for the topics that will be pressing for addressing at that time!

HOW: Early in January we'll post a list of topics identified so far. Add to the list of topics you'd like to discuss AND identify topics you'd like to help facilitate discussion about.

WHO: ATLE members (free) and non-members in the educational space interested in participating (free until December 31)

WHEN: MONDAY, JANUARY 27, 4-5 PM

Sign up and we'll send you the calendar invitation with the Zoom link scheduled for Monday, January 27, 4-5 PM. All people in the educational community are welcome.

It all began with a book study: The ATLE Digital Citizenship PLN is studying Digital Citizenship in Action (2nd ed.), by Dr. Kristen Mattson this November.

But then it became so. very. topical! The ATLE AI PLN has been scoping out topics for meetups and events starting late Fall this year and this one is right up there.

SO!

What do digital citizenship and AI have in common? It turns out, quite a bit! Join Digital Citizenship in Action author, Dr. Kristen Mattson, for an exciting hour of discussion around the ethics of AI in our world. In addition to helping you stretch your critical thinking muscles, she will show you lots of ways to get students to do the same.

We're thrilled together to be welcoming Dr. Kristen Mattson, who many of you will remember as dynamic yet grounded keynote and multiple session presenter at the 2022 ATLE Convergence Conference in Red Deer. Her wisdom about digital citizenship and the world we live in, alongside her directness and sense of humor, are refreshing, entertaining, and thought-provoking and SO we're excited she has agreed to join us on November 26, 4-5 PM MT, for an after-school session of interest to all our district and local school leads, edtech leads, and IT leads on the topic of digital citizenship in today's age of AI.

ATLE's AI Summit experience May 7, 2024 was a tremendous success. We brought together well over 100 stakeholders from across the province to explore AI in Education in Alberta.

Because the topic was so timely and the conversation so pertinent, we decided to ask our presenters if we could share their resources with you on our website. Please explore their presentations, linked below, and feel free to use them as inspiration as you create your own support for your colleagues, crediting the creators appropriately.
